If travelling from Queenstown via the Crown Range, turn right off the Cardrona Valley Road into Brownston Street; if Travelling via SH84, turn left onto Brownston Street.


Buses and shuttles will drop off at our door


We are located 10 km from Wanaka airport – shuttles are available for $15 and meet all flights into Wanaka

Located in the centre of the township, overlooking Pembroke park and with undisturbed views across Lake Wanaka, this is the perfect location for your group to explore all that the region has to offer.

YHA Wanaka accommodates all types of groups from schools and colleges, to sporting and cultural groups. Please contact us to discuss your requirements before making a booking.

Capacity and Room Types

YHA Wanaka can cater for up to 110 people across 32 rooms.

Room types available are:

  • 1 x 8 bed multi-share ensuite
  • 7 x 6 bed multi-share ensuite
  • 4 x 4 bed multi-share ensuite
  • 2 x 3 bed multi-share ensuite
  • 1 x triple ensuite
  • 4 x twin and double rooms
  • 1 x single ensuite
  • 12 x twin and double rooms with ensuite facilities.

Shared rooms

Group members are accommodated in comfortable 4 - 8 bed rooms with ensuite facilities. All bedding is provided (duvets, sheets and pillows), and towels can be hired for $1.

Private rooms

Supervisors and tour leaders can be accommodated in single, double or twin rooms with private facilities. These rooms include all bed linen and towels. 

Group breakfast

Continental breakfast can be served in our kitchen upon request for $10 per person. It includes a choice of three cereals, yogurt, seasonal fruit, toast and spreads, tea, coffee and fruit juice.

Free WiFi for Group Leaders

We know being a group leader is tough work at the best of times and you need to stay contactable as much as possible to keep things running smoothly. To help you stay connected YHA offers provides group leaders with free high speed WiFi during their stay. 

Free booking service

A free booking service is provided for all land-based domestic travel and activities including: Interislander and Bluebridge ferries, Tranzalpine, Tranzscenic and Overland trains, Intercity coach travel and local shuttle services.
