DOC - Department of Conservation

The Department of Conservation (DOC) deals with the preservation of New Zealand's natural and historic heritage. Providing for recreation is a major part of its work. This covers the management of rugged backcountry tracks and over 950 accompanying backcountry huts that are used by hunters, recreational trampers and in limited sites, cyclists. Huts provide unique places to stay, refuge from bad weather and a place to rest and recover when you are out exploring the many parks and reserves.

YHA New Zealand has always had a strong relationship with the Department of Conservation, at various times supporting conservation initiatives on the ground. We're proud to offer DOC’s Annual Hut Passes and Hut Tickets for sale to our guests.
