How to get here

You can find us on Hartmount Pl off SH6, just north of the Truman Track. Look out for the “Motel, Homestay, Backpackers” sign when on SH6. Free on-site parking is available.

 

Bus: InterCity or Naked Bus passengers: book your bus to/from the Truman Track (TRT) and ask the driver to stop at Harmount Pl. Walk down Hartmount Pl to YHA Punakaiki. Hostel staff can also pick up from the DOC Info Centre between 12:30pm – 3:00pm.

YHA Punakaiki Te Nikau Retreat offers a series of unique cabins scattered throughout native forest for a sense of privacy, tranquility and escapism. These character lodges include comforts like WiFi, fully-equipped kitchens, homemade bread and chocolate brownies for sale, and of course, a chorus of native birds from the surrounding bush.

We're located 3kms north of the Pancake Rocks and on the edge of Paparoa National Park. Beautiful West Coast beaches, river walks, horse trekking and river kayaking are all close-by. An excellent hostel to relax, rejuvenate and explore the wild and wonderful West Coast.
