Nelson is the arts and crafts capital of New Zealand and the renowned Nelson market is located next-door to the hostel. YHA Nelson is the accommodation leader for groups with many repeat customers annually. We provide quality, secure and affordable accommodation. YHA Nelson accommodates all types of groups from schools and colleges, to sporting and cultural groups.

Hostel capacity

YHA Nelson can cater for up to 97 people across 31 rooms.

Room types available are:

  • 3 x 8 bed multi-share
  • 3 x 6 bed multi-share
  • 2 x 5 bed multi-share
  • 4 x 4 bed multi-share
  • 2 x 3 bed multi-share
  • 5 x single
  • 2 x double
  • 1 x double + single with ensuite facilities
  • 1 x double room with ensuite facilities
  • 3 x twin rooms
  • 1 x single over double bed room

All bedroom doors have locks and require keys for access. A duplicate set can be provided for leaders to access all rooms allocated to your group. 

YHA Nelson is a single building with two levels. We endeavor to keep all group members and the group leader in the same area.

Room types

Shared rooms

Group members are accommodated in comfortable 3 - 8 bed rooms. Shared single sex bathroom facilities are available throughout the building.

All bedding is provided (duvets, sheets and pillows) and towels can be hired for $1 each.

Private rooms

Group leaders and supervisors can be accommodated in single, double or twin rooms. These rooms include all bed linen and towels.

Please note that we have a limited number of private rooms with ensuite facilities and they are subject to availability.

Location

YHA Nelson is set in the heart of Nelson, next to the famous Nelson Market and in within easy walking distance of the Trafalgar Centre, Trafalgar Park, Rutherford Hotel and the Nelson Colleges. We are the ideal accommodation for groups with easy access to Saxton Field.

Bus/Shuttle

Most buses will drop passengers off at the hostel with the exception of InterCity – their bus depot is 100m from the hostel.

By Plane

We are 6km from the airport and suggest taking a taxi or shuttle.

Parking

We offer bus parking and there is free overnight parking available near the hostel.
