YHA Christchurch Rolleston House is a character home which has been converted into a comfortable hostel located opposite the Canterbury Museum, the Botanical Gardens and Hagley Park. Stroll along the willow-lined Avon River or enjoy Hagley Park's acres of green parkland.
This property is a small and homely hostel with a range of backpacker accommodation including multi-share, double, twin and ensuite rooms. The kitchen and dining areas are well equipped, modern and pleasant.
Rolleston House is centrally located and is handy to bus routes. It's the perfect home base for exploring everything Christchurch has to offer: the city, the beaches, the Port Hills and everywhere else you might like to wander.
Christchurch is the largest city and gateway to the South Island. It is currently recovering from the 2010/2011 earthquakes. This has revealed the enterprise and dynamism of its people. Visit pop up malls, markets and thriving regeneration projects and suburbs, such as Addington. A full range of activities and tours is still available close to the city. Every adventurous traveller should visit!
Buses stop about 600m from the hostel. Most shuttles pick up at the hostel.
It is 8km from the Airport to the hostel. Super-Shuttle provides door to door transport.
The Train Station is 4km from hostel. Transfer in taxi / shuttle is about NZ$10 to return from the train station.

Great for our hire a hostel option this cosy hostel offers great facilities for groups wanting a private experience with the hostel all to yourselves. The hostel is spread over two floors with the majority of rooms on the second floor. The large lounge and kitchen area is situated on the ground floor.
Group members are accommodated in comfortable 3 to 6 bed rooms and single unit bathroom facilities are situated in all areas of the hostel. All bedding is provided (duvets, sheets and pillows) and towels can be hired for $1 each.
Supervisors and tour leaders can be accommodated in single, double or twin rooms with private or shared bathroom facilities. These rooms include all bed linen, towels and TV’sand ensuite rooms have tea and coffee making facilities. Please note that we have a limited number of private rooms with ensuite facilities and they are subject to availability.
Continental breakfast can be served in our group kitchen upon request for $10 per person. It includes a choice of cereals, yogurt, fruit, toast and spreads (butter, jam, honey and peanut butter), tea, coffee and fruit juice.
We know being a group leader is tough work at the best of times and you need to stay contactable as much as possible to keep things running smoothly. To help you stay connected YHA offers provides group leaders with free high speed Wi-Fi during their stay.
A free booking service is provided for all land-based domestic travel and activities including: Interislander and Bluebridge ferries, TranzAlpine, TranzScenic and Overland trains, Intercity coach travel and local shuttle services.
