YHA Hostels Support Sustainability With EV Charging Stations

Three YHA New Zealand hostels have recently joined the ranks of Electric Vehicle charging stations.

We've partnered with Meridian Energy to install chargers at YHA Franz Josef, YHA Aoraki Mt Cook, and YHA Te Anau. These are three of our most remote locations, which helps to make these amazing places more accessible to those in more environmentally friendly vehicles.

All three charging stations were the first in their respective towns; YHA Aoraki Mt Cook remains the only place for EV drivers to charger inside the National Park at the time of writing.

This initiative is part of a combined funding project with Meridian Energy and a Government low emission vehicles contestable fund via the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Authority. We have a close working relationship with Meridian Energy and were delighted to be able to offer these charging locations.
