Working Bee at Opoutere - August 27-28 2011
On Friday afternoon and Saturday the team went up to Opoutere for another successful working bee and we did some fix it jobs organised by our team leader Rex Smart.
We laid some cobbled path and installed another wheelchair ramp improving wheelchair access for disabled guests and weeded a few garden beds and mounted a table tennis bat and ball holder on the wall by the table tennis table.
We did get a little free time to walk to the beach and enjoy what makes Opoutere Hostel a very special place. I got up early just to sit and listen to the dawn chorus and saw paradise ducks, Canadian geese, and tuis and a beautiful sun rise with the distant sound of waves breaking on the shore and my pot of coffee tasted great.
