YHA Picton The Villa is a converted 110-year old boutique character home with sun-drenched rooms, gardens and verandas. Located in the centre of town, everything Picton has to offer is right on the doorstep including kayaking, diving, sailing, walks or cruising the magnificent Marlborough Sounds.

Family owned and operated, YHA Picton is clean, tidy and friendly with a wide range of comfortable accommodation at affordable prices. Accommodation includes multi-share, female only, double and twin ensuite. YHA Picton also accommodates families and groups. The hostel has two fully equipped kitchens plus a BBQ kitchen and offers free unlimited WiFi, free bike hire, fishing gear, spa pool, treehouse and a courtyard fire for evenings listening to live music and meeting fellow travellers.

YHA Picton offers some extra special add-ons such as free hot apple crumble with ice cream and breakfast from May to October, and a free booking service for the Queen Charlotte Track, tent hire and luggage storage.

YHA Picton offers a homely, peaceful and friendly environment for groups travelling in Picton. We run a small hostel and can cater for many types of groups including schools and colleges, sporting and cultural groups.

YHA Picton facilities include 4, 5, 6, 8 and 10-bed shared and private rooms and two fully-equipped kitchens plus an outdoor BBQ kitchen. We also offer some extra special add-ons such as sun-drenched gardens with picnic areas, a treehouse, hammock, free bike hire, spa pool, fishing gear, DVD library, Xbox, SKY TV and a separate TV lounge.

YHA Picton can cater for up to 63 guests across 15 rooms with a separate, self-contained cottage that can be booked for a group of 19 or fewer.

Shared rooms

Group members are accommodated in comfortable 6, 5 or 4 bed rooms. The hostel has a range of  mixed and disabled bathroom facilities conveniently located close to the bedrooms. All bedding is provided (duvets, sheets and pillows) and towels can be hired for $1.

Private rooms

Supervisors and tour leaders can be accommodated in private rooms. These rooms include all bed linen and towels.

We know being a group leader is tough work at the best of times and you need to stay contactable as much as possible to keep things running smoothly. To help you stay connected YHA provides free unlimited WiFi during their stay. 

Free Booking Service

A free booking service is provided for all land-based domestic travel and activities including: the Queen Charlotte Track, wine tours, dolphin swimming, sea kayaking, and transport including ferries, bus, train, water transport, car hire and flights with the local airline.
