YHA Nelson is set in the heart of Nelson, next to the famous Nelson Market and in within easy walking distance of the Trafalgar Centre, Trafalgar Park, Rutherford Hotel and the Nelson Colleges.

Capacity and Room Types

YHA Nelson can cater for up to 92 people across 31 rooms.

Room types available are:

  • 1 x 7 bed multi-share
  • 1 x 6 bed multi-share
  • 3 x 5 bed multi-share
  • 4 x 4 bed multi-share
  • 3 x 3 bed multi-share
  • 1 x single
  • 17 x twin and double rooms
  • 1 x double room with ensuite facilities.
The accommodation

YHA Nelson is a single building with two levels. We endeavor to keep all group members and the group leader in the same area. All bedrooms have locks. We can provide a spare set of keys to leaders to access all rooms allocated to your group if you wish.

Shared rooms

Group members are accommodated in comfortable rooms with 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7 bed rooms. Shared single sex bathroom facilities are available. Bathrooms are throughout the building so they are always near bedrooms. All bedding is provided (duvets, sheets and pillows) and towels can be hired for $1.

Private rooms

Supervisors and tour leaders can be accommodated in private single, double or twin rooms. These rooms include all bed linen and towels. Please note: we have a limited number of rooms with ensuite facilities and they are subject to availability.

Free WiFi for Group Leaders

We know being a group leader is tough work at the best of times and you need to stay contactable as much as possible to keep things running smoothly. To help you stay connected YHA offers provides group leaders with free high speed WiFi during their stay.
