YHANZ is CEMARS Certified
YHA New Zealand has become the first backpacker hostel network in the world to achieve CEMARS® (Carbon Emissions Measurement And Reduction Scheme) certification.
CEMARS is the first two steps of Landcare Research’s internationally recognised carboNZeroCertTM programme. It recognises the actions of businesses and organisations who measure their greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, understand their carbon liabilities, and put in place management plans to reduce emissions in their organisation and more widely through their supply chain. Stewart Island Project
We're planning to build a 54 bed hostel and learning centre on Stewart Island as a legacy for all New Zealanders and travellers to this country, and in commemoration of its 75th Anniversary in 2007.
