About Napier

Savour this stylish Art Deco city of Napier bathed in the sparkling Mediterranean sunlight of Hawke’s Bay, surrounded by vineyards and the Heretaunga Plains known as ”the fruit bowl of New Zealand”. Napier was rebuilt in just two years after a devastating earthquake in 1931 and is now regarded as an Art Deco architectural gem. Napier is a city with style, surrounded by the fine vineyards of the Hawke’s Bay region and looking out to Cape Kidnappers, home of the beautiful and impressive gannet seabirds.

Much like a European seaside town there are many attractions in Napier for all ages - visit the National Aquarium, Marineland, local museums, cafes, or try para-sailing, ballooning, windsurfing, kayaking or mini golf. Alternatively just take your backpack off for a while and ‘chill out’ on the beach or in one of the many parks while soaking up the Napier sun.

"Napier is one of New Zealand's most likeable regional centres" – The Rough Guide to New Zealand.
