NEW Hostel
YHA New Zealand has announced its purchase of the well known Wanaka backpackers hostel, the Purple Cow. YHA took over management of the Purple Cow from the 2nd of November and the hostel opened officially on 26th November.
YHA Wanaka, Purple Cow is situated in central Wanaka with a location that offers uninterrupted views of Lake Wanaka and New Zealand’s famed Southern Alps. The hostel has a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere and is an ideal retreat for anyone looking to discover the fantastic range of activities on offer in Wanaka.
Riding for Rakiura
Riding for Rakiura was a six day bike ride from Wellington to Rotorua to raise money for the Stewart Island Project.
We had 15 brave riders who entered the ride which included staff from hostels, board members and national office staff. The ride took six days from Sunday October 25 to Friday October 30 2009, starting in Wellington and ending in Rotorua where the YHA AGM took place.
